Switching · TablePlus

Switching from TablePlus.

Your TablePlus connections come over, with their SSH settings. Passwords stay in TablePlus: you type each one once, and it goes to your Keychain.

Three steps

  1. Install saferow from the download page. The free tier needs no account and no license.
  2. Choose File › Import from Sequel Ace, TablePlus or TablePro… Your TablePlus connections are listed first. Press Set up on one.
  3. Connect once. saferow checks every step, from SSH to Safe reads, and saves the connection only when it works. If a step fails, it says which and how to fix it.

What comes over

  • Every MySQL, MariaDB, Postgres and SQLite connection: engine, host, port, user, database and the SQLite file’s path.
  • SSH settings: host, user and port.
  • Your ~/.ssh/config hosts, folded into servers.
  • Passwords from a local Docker database, read from the container’s settings, if that is where it runs.

What doesn’t

  • Passwords and SSH key files: choose the key and type the password once; both stay in your Keychain.
  • Connections to Redis, MongoDB and the other engines saferow doesn’t cover.
  • Saved queries, colours, groups and tags.
  • Environment labels: saferow guesses which connections are production and asks you.

What’s different day to day

  • An agent that reads, charts and proposes, with every change counted and held for you.
  • Rewind after a commit, from restore points saved before each write.
  • Pending grid edits work as in TablePlus: staged, reviewed, then saved with ⌘S.

Nothing in TablePlus is changed: saferow reads its list and leaves it as it was. saferow and TablePlus, compared.
