saferow and DBeaver.
DBeaver is the broadest database tool there is: more than a hundred data sources on every desktop, with a free open-source Community edition. saferow covers four databases on the Mac and goes deep on what an agent may change.
Checked 3 October 2026. Every DBeaver figure links to DBeaver’s own pages, or says where else it comes from. Something out of date? Tell us and we will fix it.

trying it
Three steps to try saferow.
- Install saferow from the download page. The free tier needs no account.
- Add a database (⇧⌘N). saferow finds the hosts in your
~/.ssh/configand the databases in Docker on this Mac. - Connect once. saferow checks each step, tells you which one failed and how to fix it, and saves the connection when it works.

Can saferow replace DBeaver for me?
Only if your databases are MySQL, MariaDB, Postgres or SQLite and you work on a Mac. For anything beyond those, DBeaver covers far more.
