Signing in
- “MySQL didn’t accept the password for app.” Press Enter the password. It goes straight to your Keychain; saferow never shows it again, and nothing sends it back to the window.
- “MySQL needs the password for app.” No password was saved for this connection. Enter it, or bring it over (below).
- “There’s no user called … on this server.” Check the user name: Sign in….
- “No database user is set.” Sign in… and give one.
- “The server asks for a sign-in method saferow’s MySQL client doesn’t speak.” The user was created with an authentication plugin saferow’s driver doesn’t support. Ask for the user to use the server’s default method.
Bringing a password over
saferow can take a password from where you already keep it, straight into its own Keychain item:
- From Sequel Ace. If a Sequel Ace favourite has this password saved, the fix reads Bring from Sequel Ace (name). macOS asks for your login password before saferow can read Sequel Ace’s Keychain item; choose Allow.
- From a local Docker container. If the container’s settings hold the password (such as
MYSQL_ROOT_PASSWORDorPOSTGRES_PASSWORD), the fix reads Use the password from container’s settings.
saferow doesn’t bring TablePlus or TablePro passwords over; type those once.
The database
- “There’s no database called shop.” saferow lists the databases the user can see; Pick a database.
- “app can’t use the database shop.” The user has no rights to it. Pick another, or sign in as a user who has them.
- “It signed in, but no database is chosen yet.” Choose one from the list. saferow keeps one database per connection; switching databases in Classic opens a sibling connection with the same settings.
